  • Hi there and welcome!

I am a photographer based in Northern VA, specializing in Interiors, Brands, and capturing the love of a family on medium format film. Having earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and being a photographer for 8 years, I’ve been able to blend my love for capturing a feeling through an image with my love for spaces, people, and stories. Whether it’s the feeling of being inside a beautifully designed place, the feeling of a brand’s story and how it draws people in, or the feeling of a 3 year old’s tiny arms wrapped around their mother and the impossible joy felt at hearing their sweet giggle, my heart connects with each one of these and translates it into imagery that has soul and evokes emotion. I believe in telling a story, beautiful light, gratitude, and always seeing the beauty in life and in others.

Kaylan and Matt had the kind of wedding day that makes you long for it never to end. That has you asking yourself “how can the day get any better”? Not only was the decor perfection, but the energy and vibe that filled their day was pure bliss!  High School sweethearts who have been together for so many years, their wedding day was a culmination of the life they have shared together. They were surrounded by so many people who have supported them for so long. High school friends. College friends. Family friends. People who could not have been any happier to watch them commit to spend the rest of their lives together. It was as if this was their day, too. I think the entire group said a collective “FINALLY!” when they were pronounced husband and wife. 🙂

Full of corals, pinks, sea green, and chain link patterns, their day had such an elegant, yet modern feel to it. Kaylan’s Jenny Yoo gown was accented with a piece of delicate lace from her mother’s own wedding dress, and she and her sister wore matching rings made from their mothers wedding ring. Their wedding program had a game of MASH on the back (how cute!) as a nod to their high school past. Their handwritten vows, read during the ceremony that was beautifully officiated by Kaylan’s sister Jen, left not a dry eye. Their guests, who helped build the foundation of their relationship, were asked to write words of wisdom on Jenga blocks, to now help them build the foundation of their marriage. Kaylan gifted her bridesmaids, who wore dusty shale JCrew dresses, with gray and coral clutches full of all the necessary wedding day essentials.  As a nod to their home in Brooklyn, Matt gave his groomsmen carefully selected wine from Brooklyn Winery, presented with their wedding ties and cufflinks. And not only was their wedding party one of the best looking I have ever seen, hands-down they were the most fun. I would be completely remiss if I did not name Kaylan’s brother Mitch as MVP of the wedding. He literally was like a gift from the heavens – perfect at everything and ensuring the wedding day ran incredibly smooth for his sis. I want him to come to every wedding with me from now on! If for nothing else, to lead the entire party in Michael Jackson Dance-Off’s and rounds of Limbo. By far one of the best parties I have ever been to, their reception was the perfect ending to a truly perfect day!

Kaylan and Matt, it was a true, true honor for me to be a part of your wedding day. I was so incredibly moved by how much you love each other, how you support each other, and how even though you have been together for so long, and have stood by each other through so much, there was this feeling of “newness” that surrounded you as you became husband and wife. You could see how much you love each other through your glances and the special care you take with each other, and I know this new adventure together will be full of so much fun, excitement, and plenty of “tandem snooze button hitting” in the mornings!

One of the best parts about what I do is getting to know so many amazing couples. Interesting, funny, loving, heartwarming, inspiring couples, who for months leading up to their wedding, share so many details with me about their life, their relationship and their plans for one of the biggest days of their life. Each one of them I find to be so fascinating, and Amanda and Matt are especially so. They are both so multi-faceted with varied interests (a list would be so long!), but one that I find to be so incredibly awesome is that they can dance. And I mean DANCE! Like, ballroom dancing, Dancing with the Stars kind of dancing. They gave me a taste of it at their engagement session and wow – was I blown away. Maybe it’s because I love dancing so much. Maybe it’s because I dream that in another life, I would have been a ballerina, a competitive ballroom dancer, or at least a Fly Girl on In Living Color (hey JLo!). But watching Matt lead Amanda while letting her shine, and the way they communicated without saying a word, anticipating each others next steps so beautifully, was like a little peek into the reasons why their relationship seems to be so effortlessly in harmony. They just have an ease together. A peacefulness about them that is so lovely. As they approach their wedding this September, and as Amanda leaves her home of NYC to relocate to Washington D.C. to be with Matt and start a new job (yay on grad school graduation!!), it’s so easy to see that at the risk of sounding completely cheesy, they will be totally in step with one another, helping each other along, and just gliding through life, truly enjoying the dance together.

Amanda and Matt, I can’t wait for your wedding this September at Snug Harbor! I know it will be a beautiful day full of so much love and fun, and hopefully a little dancing too! 🙂
