I have a soft spot in my heart for photographing families. I love capturing the raw, and the real, and the emotion, and the love, and the messy, and the smiles, and the tears, and the hugs. Families being families. Mom’s being moms. Dad’s doing their dad things. Babies fresh in this world and big brothers learning how to settle into that new role. It’s about preserving those everyday moments that we, as moms and dads, will have swirling around in our minds when our kids are grown. Trying to hang on to the sound of their little voices at 2 years old, the smell of their hair at that age, the clothes they wore, their favorite toy, the way they used to always ask for the same book to be read to them over and over in our grown-up beds. These pictures narrate those memories. Help us recall them a little easier. A standard afternoon at home. An exceptional love. All the little moments of a childhood – of a full life – that string together to become our everyday. The ones that fill our hearts and mean the most. The beautiful, ordinary, everyday, everything moments.
